Undergraduate Scholarship Two $5,000 scholarships are available to undergraduate students majoring in metallurgical engineering, materials science and engineering, or to undergraduate students with a significant interest in the materials area. The Acta Materialia Gold Medal is awarded each year, unless the judges feel no candidate is qualified. The presentation is made at a venue approved by the Acta Materialia Executive Committee. The Award will not be bestowed in absentia except in extraordinary circumstances. The Acta Student Award is limited to candidates whose work was reported in an Acta journal and who were bona fide graduate students at the time the work was performed. The Acta Materialia Gold Medal Award consists of a gold medal, an inscribed certificate, and a cash prize of US$ 10,000.
